Bowling Green High School Tops in U.S.
The Carol Martin Gatton Academy of Mathematics and Science at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, for the second year in a row, has been named the top high school in America by Newsweek.
Among the list of 2,000 high schools in America, Kentucky had 19 make the cut.
Before the top finishes for two years in a row, Carol Martin Gatton Academy of Mathematics and Science was listed 5th in the nation in 2011.
Metrics producing the results were college entrance test scores, college-level curricula performance, college matriculation rate and graduation rate.
Gatton Academy is supported by the state, and is the only high school in Kentucky that is. Students from almost every city and county in the state study at the school, according to Gatton Academy Director Tim Gott.
