Somerset Student Charged with Felony over Bringing Gun to School

In an overreaction by school authorities at Southern Elementary School in Somerset, Kentucky, an 11-year-old boy was charged with a felony for bringing a gun to school, one that he forgot in his pants after sports shooting the day before with his dad.

The student, after being dropped off at school, discovered he had forgotten the gun in his pocket and told his teacher he had it.

According to Pulaski County Sheriff Todd Wood, the little boy has a court appearance where he will be tried as a juvenile.

A letter from Keith Patrick, principal at Southern Elementary, included this:

Regardless of the self-report and seemingly lack of motive on the part of the student, this matter is being handled with the utmost concern, urgency and seriousness that it deserves. The Pulaski County School System will pursue any criminal charges as allowable and the student was removed from school.

Sheriff Todd Wood then started creating scenarios of what could have happened, saying “Someone might be looking at the gun who doesn’t know about any type of gun safety, or it could go off accidentally and shoot (the juvenile suspect) himself. There are so many scenarios that could go wrong and pose so many different threats.”

It's disgusting to see this principle and sheriff cover their rear ends by making this unfortunate but innocent event into far more than it was.

The idea of pursuing felony charges against an 11-year-old boy, as well as threatening possible action against the father of the boy is ludicrous and positioning at best.

Facts are nothing happened, and while there was irresponsibility involved, it was totally an accident that should have been left alone once the boy let it be known he had accidentally left the gun in his pants.

How can it be illegal to forget something, even it if is a gun?

The boy is getting punished for doing the right thing, sending a message that students should keep things secret if they will end up getting in trouble for telling the truth. It should have been handled privately and out of the media and limelight. Is this mainstream media and anti-2nd Amendment people using the boy as a scapegoat and prop for their agenda?

Seeing the ridiculous response from authorities seems to point that way.

Kentucky Gun Owners in "Day of Resistance" Against 2nd Amendment Foes

Around the nation hundreds of cities are participating in a "Day of Resistance" on February 23, 2013, against the outrageous attempt to crush the 2nd Amendment and whittle away at the right of American citizens to bear arms.

The attacks started once Obama used the recent killings be a deranged gunman in order to promote the anti-gun agenda of his elite, liberal supports. He issued 23 executive actions against your 2nd amendment Constitutional right to bear arms; all of that without Congress giving its consent.

In Kentucky there are at least two meetings that will be offered for citizens wanting to show their solidarity in opposing this attempt to confiscate their guns.

Gun Companies Won't Sell Regulated Arms to State Governments

Six gun manufacturers, including LaRue Tactical, York Arms, Olympic Arms, Extreme Firepower Inc, LLC, Templar Custom and Cheaper than Dirt, have let it be known that they won't be selling their products to state government agencies that have opposed the 2nd Amendment and the right of American citizens to bear arms.

Grass Roots North Carolina and Guns Save Live, a couple of 2nd Amendment organizations, have been pressuring larger gun manufacturers like Glock, Sig Sauer and Smith and Wesson to make the same decision and refuse to sell their products to states instituting gun laws contrary to the right for Americans to bear arms.

Some of the companies made their limitations based upon what residents aren't allowed to buy, while others announced they won't be doing any business with the respective states.

Here are the announcements made by each company:

* LaRue Tactical

Effective today, in an effort to see that no legal mistakes are made by LaRue Tactical and/or its employees, we will apply all current State and Local Laws (as applied to civilians) to state and local law enforcement / government agencies. In other words, LaRue Tactical will limit all sales to what law-abiding citizens residing in their districts can purchase or possess.

* York Arms

Based on the recent legislation in New York, we are prohibited from selling rifles and receivers to residents of New York. We have chosen to extend that prohibition to all governmental agencies associated with or located within New York. As a result we have halted sales of rifles, short barreled rifles, short barreled shotguns, machine guns, and silencers to New York governmental agencies.

* Olympic Arms

Due the passing of this legislation, Olympic Arms would like to announce that the State of New York, any Law Enforcement Departments, Law Enforcement Officers, First Responders within the State of New York, or any New York State government entity or employee of such an entity - will no longer be served as customers.

In short, Olympic Arms will no longer be doing business with the State of New York or any governmental entity or employee of such governmental entity within the State of New York - henceforth and until such legislation is repealed, and an apology made to the good people of the State of New York and the American people.

* Extreme Firepower Inc, LLC

The Federal Government and several states have enacted gun control laws that restrict the public from owning and possessing certain types of firearms. Law-enforcement agencies are typically exempt from these restrictions. EFI, LLC does not recognize law-enforcement exemptions to local, state, and federal gun control laws. If a product that we manufacture is not legal for a private citizen to own in a jurisdiction, we will not sell that product to a law-enforcement agency in that jurisdiction.

* Templar Custom

We will not sell arms to agents of the state of New York that hold themselves to be "more equal" than their citizens.

As long as the legislators of New York think they have the power to limit the rights of their citizens, in defiance of the Constitution, we at Templar will not sell them firearms to enforce their edicts.

Templar Custom is announcing that the State of New York, any Law Enforcement Departments, Law Enforcement Officers, First Responders within the State of New York, or any New York State government entity or employee will no longer be served as customers.

* Cheaper than Dirt

Recently, companies such as LaRue Tactical and Olympic Arms have announced that they will no longer sell prohibited items to government agencies and personnel in states that deny the right to own those items to civilians. It has been and will continue to be Cheaper Than Dirt’s policy to not to sell prohibited items to government agencies and/or agents in states, counties, cities, and municipalities that have enacted restrictive gun control laws against their citizens. We support and encourage other companies that share in this policy.

These are terrific and brave decisions by these companies. If the larger companies were to join in, we will see some quick turnaround in decisions by those states opposing the 2nd Amendment.

Courier-Journal Gun-Control Poll a Joke

The liberal newspaper rag of Kentucky, the Courier Journal, is using polls to attempt to make it appear the residents of Kentucky support Obama's attack on the 2nd Amendment and the values of the vast majority of Kentucky residents.

Most people must understand that polling, in many cases, are used as a tool to sway public opinion, and the questions are asked in a way that confuses respondents.

So when the Courier Journal screams in it headlines that "Many of President Barack Obama's gun-control measures supported in Courier-Journal Bluegrass Poll," and then deceivingly assert "a majority of Kentuckians support gun-control measures proposed by President Barack Obama," you can see they are using SurveyUSA polling as a means of trying to make the people of Kentucky believe something they in fact don't.

In other words, these are mind games being employed because of the cynical paper believing the people of Kentucky are too stupid to see through their strategy.

An anemic 700 Kentucky residents took part in the poll, and allegedly 56 percent of them are in favor of "stricter gun-control laws."

What is 56 percent of 700 people polled? It's 392 people. So according to the Courier Journal, the 392 people in Kentucky (assuming they even understood the poll questions) who say they believe that gun laws need to become stricter, encompass the beliefs and values of the entire state.

Again, this is pathetic, and using the same polling company, found out from 609 registered voters that they oppose U.S Senator Mitch McConnell by a 2-1 margin. Here's the link to that "poll." Bookmark this page and come back when McConnell runs again to see if the 2-1 margin yelled out by the Courier Journal is true or not.

The bottom line is polling, even when done honestly and correctly, isn't an exact science, or a science at all, and many times are found to be nowhere nearly as accurate as the results portray. There is no doubt with these two polls that this is true, as we'll see going forward.

It's amazing to see this newspaper subject itself to be the laughing stalk it is by printing these poll results as if they are meaningful or accurate in any way. This mainstream media newspaper is already considered a joke by many, but to reveal itself as the court jester of news, or class clown of Kentucky media, is a terrific, but unexpected surprise.
