In this video Rand Paul again shows why he is one of the few politicians in America that understand the enormous dangers we face from out of control government spending and the consequences of a government that believes it has the right and authority to take the place of God Himself in our lives.

Government isn't our healer, and it shouldn't be our provider. To embrace those tenets is to give and make government something bigger than it is meant to be, and the result will be an increasing loss of freedoms and a gigantic totalitarian state that in fact begins to think it can operate and take the place of God.

Leaders may not say it, but their actions reveal it. This is one of the reasons there is endless spending and promises made, as the government is taking it upon itself to be the healer of the people, even though it has gone far past the point of no return in being able to afford it.

Congressman Brett Guthrie's Response to SOTU Address

Responding to the State of the Union Address by Barack Obama, Congressman Brett Guthrie issued this statement:
  
“Tonight, on the anniversary of President Lincoln’s birth, I was hopeful that President Obama would outline his plan to try to work with the House and Senate to address the looming problems our nation faces. Instead, I heard a laundry list of priorities that not only cost billions of dollars in new spending, but do not address our country’s core ailments.

“Our economic climate is cause for serious concern. Hard-working Americans continue to face unemployment and our economy is growing at a slow rate. Crushing federal debt hangs over future generations with no relief in sight.  Our entitlement programs are growing at rapid rates that threaten their sustainability.  This is not the American Dream we have promised to our children.  We must control spending, balance our budget and put our nation back on a path toward a brighter future.

“In addition to shoring up our fiscal situation, I agree with the President that we must place a focus on jobs. Millions of Americans still struggle to find employment, and through job training and investment in a strong workforce we can help put people back to work in better, higher-paying jobs.

“The challenges we face are great, but so is the American spirit. Together, we can tackle these issues and ensure future generations have the opportunity for greatness.”

Mitch McConnell's Response to Obama's SOTU Address

A number of area politicians responded to what is perceived as a very weak and irrelevant State of the Union Address by Barack Obama.

Here is what Senator Mitch McConnell said:

“I was disappointed. The President showed yet again that he can really deliver a speech, but I don’t think anybody needed proof of that. I think what most Americans wanted to hear tonight was the President’s plan to get government spending under control, rein in the debt, and put the private economy back on a path to real growth and serious job creation.

“Kentuckians aren’t interested in false promises; they want to hear what we’re planning to do to streamline government and bring it up to date. They want to hear what it’s going to take to lower the cost of living, and the cost of education and health care. They want to hear what it’s going to take to create good jobs. The President didn’t do any of those things tonight.

“Another thing he didn’t do was to explain how Obamacare is about to start impacting peoples’ lives in a very significant way. Many of us warned about all the terrible consequences of this law. Well, now we’re seeing them. And I think the President who pushed so hard to pass it should face up to its impact, and do something to prepare folks for what’s coming.

“Another thing I’d say is that we don’t need to be fighting about everything in Washington. I happen to be one of those who thinks divided government is the ideal time to solve our nation’s problems. For whatever reason, the President doesn’t agree with that. He seems to want everybody to think that Republicans are all up here with their daggers drawn all the time. It’s absolute nonsense. We’ve got serious problems to deal with, especially spending and debt. Every single one of my Republican colleagues wants to do something to address those problems.

“So I think the President missed an opportunity tonight to lay out a serious economic plan Kentuckians could really relate to, and to reach out across the aisle to get it done.”

Kentucky Republican Senator Rand Paul's response to Obama's State of the Union address.



I speak to you tonight from Washington, D.C. The state of our economy is tenuous but our people remain the greatest example of freedom and prosperity the world has ever known.

People say America is exceptional. I agree, but it’s not the complexion of our skin or the twists in our DNA that make us unique. America is exceptional because we were founded upon the notion that everyone should be free to pursue life, liberty, and happiness.

For the first time in history, men and women were guaranteed a chance to succeed based NOT on who your parents were but on your own initiative and desire to work.

We are in danger, though, of forgetting what made us great. The President seems to think the country can continue to borrow $50,000 per second. The President believes that we should just squeeze more money out of those who are working.

The path we are on is not sustainable, but few in Congress or in this Administration seem to recognize that their actions are endangering the prosperity of this great nation.

Ronald Reagan said, government is not the answer to the problem, government is the problem.

Tonight, the President told the nation he disagrees. President Obama believes government is the solution: More government, more taxes, more debt.

What the President fails to grasp is that the American system that rewards hard work is what made America so prosperous.

What America needs is not Robin Hood but Adam Smith. In the year we won our independence, Adam Smith described what creates the Wealth of Nations.

He described a limited government that largely did not interfere with individuals and their pursuit of happiness.

All that we are, all that we wish to be is now threatened by the notion that you can have something for nothing, that you can have your cake and eat it too, that you can spend a trillion dollars every year that you don’t have.

I was elected to the Senate in 2010 by people worried about our country, worried about our kids and their future. I thought I knew how bad it was in Washington. But it is worse than I ever imagined.
Congress is debating the wrong things.

Every debate in Washington is about how much to increase spending – a little or a lot.

About how much to increase taxes – a little or a lot.

The President does a big “woe is me” over the $1.2 trillion sequester that he endorsed and signed into law. Some Republicans are joining him. Few people understand that the sequester doesn’t even cut any spending. It just slows the rate of growth. Even with the sequester, government will grow over $7 trillion over the next decade.

Only in Washington could an increase of $7 trillion in spending over a decade be called a cut.

So, what is the President’s answer? Over the past four years he has added over $6 trillion in new debt and may well do the same in a second term. What solutions does he offer? He takes entitlement reform off the table and seeks to squeeze more money out of the private sector.

Obama's State of the Union Speech a Disaster

In one of the weakest and disastrous SOTU addresses in recent history, Barack Obama bizarrely and irresponsibly stated that cuts to government spending for domestic and military purposes would be a "really bad idea."

Huh? A bad idea? The most important issue facing the United States at this time is to cut back on government spending across the board. Out of control spending and promises by the U.S. government has brought America to the brink of economic ruin, and the idea of dealing with it being called "bad" by Obama only points to his no longer being able to discern reality. He's living in a make believe world that doesn't exist. Wonderland looks more real than statements like he made about spending.

Also strange was Obama's disconnect concerning the ongoing murder of living children in the womb, while calling children killed by deranged killers "our most precious resource." If that's the case, then why isn't Obama 100 percent behind the repeal of Roe Vs. Wade and working to eliminate the financing of death organizations like Planned Parenthood? It's not okay for a few children to be killed, but it is okay to have thousands killed in America annually?

Every stupid and meaningless fake issue was raised by Obama, such as the fictitious global warming lie, so-called clean energy, raising the minimum wage, and gun control, among a number of others.

In other words, he blabbed about nothing of substance, simply reiterating talking points to make his base feel good.

Kentucky voters need to remember this next election when the Democrats try to distance themselves from this renegade president who is being propped up by his party.
