After being shut down for three years, a refinery in the central Kentucky city of Somerset is back on line, with expectations it'll be running at full capacity in about half a year.
The refinery is now running at about 35 to 40 percent capacity at this time, with the Continental Refining Company saying that the company resumed operations at the refinery several months ago by starting to receive oil, and actual refining began about a month ago. The company chose to wait to make the announcement until Sunday, February 3.
About a year ago Continental Refining Company acquired the refinery after it closed in 2010 during a period of financial struggles by several former owners.
Continental also revealed it has a contract in place with Sonoco Partners Marketing and Terminals.
