Toyota (TM) Adding Lexus Production to Kentucky Plant

Toyota (TM) announced it will be moving some of its Lexus production to its Georgetown, Kentucky
plant, which will add about 750 jobs to the area.

According to Toyota Motor President Akio Toyoda, the car manufacturer will produce the Lexus ES sedan at the plant in Georgetown, where it now builds Venza, Avalon Hybrid, Camry and Camry Hybrid models.

Toyoda said this in a press conference: "Lexus was founded in the United States, so it is only fitting that we are bringing the production of luxury sedans for our U.S. customers back to where the brand was born."

Kentucky provided Toyota tax breaks of almost $150 million as an incentive to locate in the state.

Toyota said it will invest $360 million into the factory.

Lexus cars are scheduled to begin production at Georgetown in 2015.
